The 8
th grade Lady Cub volleyball teams ended their season last night against Brenham. The white team won a quick match in 2 games, while the maroon team suffered their only district loss of the season.
The white team played one of their best games of the season, winning 25-10 and 25-7. Their overall record is 6-1. We only misssed 2 serves the whole game. Playing well for the Cubs were Lauren Steines with 9 points and 1 kill, Taylor Holland with 8 points, Catherine Haberl with 1 kill, and Rachel Roberson with 5 kills.
The maroon team went down fighting, losing in 3 games, 26-24, 7-25, and 15-25. Our overall record for the season is 13-2. Leading CSMS were Peyton James with 22 assists, Maddie Jenkins with 4 kills, Bryndi Kissmann with 12 digs, Sarah Hancock with 20 assists, Anna Solcher with 12 digs, and Lexi Bullard with 10 digs.
Coach Nail would like to thank the team managers Emma Ahmad, Maddie Arseneaux, and Rachael Lee for all your help this season. And good luck to all the girls trying out for basketball!
Morning Announcement – Friday, October 21, 2011
The CSMS 8th grade volleyball team added another win to their season record last night against SFA. The white team defeated SFA, in two games, 25-11 and 25-7. Lizzy Isham got on a roll serving and scored 7 straight points to start the game. Catherine Haberl contributed 13 points.
The maroon team followed that up with a 25-5 and 25-7 victory. Maddie Jenkins led the way with 10 points. Sarah Hancock added 7 points.
Next Thursday is our last game. The district championship will be on the line as CSMS faces Brenham-Green. We need everyone's support! First game is at 4:30. Good luck!

The CSMS 8th grade volleyball team played at Rayburn last night. The white team suffered their first loss of the season, while the maroon team earned another victory.
The white team lost their match in two games, 23-25 and 16-25. Lizzy Isham and Lauren Steines were the top servers on the night, scoring 5 points each. Rachel Roberson had 3 kills. Catherine Haberl and Kristen Pursley had 2 kills. And Hope Spacek had 1 kill.
The maroon team won their match in three games, 25-6, 15-25, and 25-16. Peyton James, Sarah Hancock, and Katarina Popovic each had 5 kills. Maddie Jenkins had 4 kills. Maddie was also the top server, scoring 15 points.
There are two games left in the season. Next week, we travel to SFA. Good luck!
The CSMS 8th grade Lady Cub maroon volleyball team competed in the Sam Rayburn volleyball tournament on Saturday. The Cubs won 3 games before losing in the championship match, bringing home the 2nd place trophy.
CSMS played Magnolia in the first game of the day. After a slow start, we came back to win 21-25, 25-21, and 25-15. Grace Jennings led the way, scoring 13 points, with no missed serves. Peyton James added 12 points and Sarah Hancock 11. Melissa Liu provided a spark off the bench, adding 10 assists.
Next, CSMS defeated Franklin, winning in 3 games 25-16, 20-25, and 25-15. Maddie Jenkins led the Cubs with 6 kills and Katarina Popovic played great, as well, with 5 kills. Kassidy McCabe was the top server, scoring 9 points. Andre Sanchez had 3 kills and 4 points. Anna Solcher contributed 10 passes.
In the next game, the Lady Cubs defeated the AMCMS Silver team 25-17 and 25-17. Kat and Peyton led the way serving, scoring 17 points. Grace had 3 kills and Maddie added 2.
In the championship match, CSMS was defeated by Leon 25-21, 8-25, and 15-25. Bryndi Kissmann fought hard with 12 good passes. Maddie also played a good game, socring 10 points and collecting 6 kills. Kat finished with 4 kills. The Cubs overall record is 11-1.

Kristen Pursley finished with 4 kills and Brianna Soltis added 2. Taylor Holland was the top server for the night, scoring 8 points. Taylor also had two kills. Susie Saca scored 5.
The Lady Cub maroon team also won in two games, 25-21 and 25-15. Katarina Popovic had a great game and had 8 kills. Andre Sanchez also played tough at the net and had 6 kills. Maddie Jenkins was the top server, with 11 points and Melissa Liu added 8. Sarah Hancock had 20 assists and Peyton James had 12.
Next week, the Lady Cubs have a bye on Thursday, but the maroon team will be competing in the Rayburn tournament on Saturday. Good luck!

The 8th grade Lady Cub volleyball teams added one more win to their season record last night, defeating Brenham.
The white team played a great game, winning 25-3 and 25-8. Their overall record is now 4-0. Victoria Evans led the way serving, scoring 10 points. Lizzy Isham and Rachel Roberson each added 8. Megan Reynolds scored 6 points and Kristen Pursley had 2 kills. The white team played consistently as a team, and only missed 2 serves.
The maroon team started off slow and lost the first game 24-26. CSMS fought back to win the next two, 25-22 and 25-12. Sarah Hancock served tough for the Cubs, scoring 10 points. Grace Jennings and Melissa Liu eached scored 9. Katarina Popovic played tough at the net and scored 5 kills. Andre Sanchez was also strong, with 4 kills. Kassidy McCabe returned in time from winning 1st place in the cross country meet to lead the team in assists, with 21. The maroon team’s record is now 7-0.
Next week the Cubs travel to Navasota. Good luck ladies!

This weekend the 8th grade CSMS volleyball team competed in the Lady Cub/Lady Cat Volleyball tournament, bringing home the Championship Trophy. CSMS remains undefeated on the season.
The first game of the day saw the Cubs defeat Navasota, 25-8 and 25-19. In the second game, CSMS was down 5-11 and fought back to win. Andre Sanchez and Grace Jennings each had a kill. Peyton James scored 8 points. Kassidy McCabe and Melissa Liu had 6 assists each.
In the next match, CSMS faced Montgomery. The Cubs battled to the end. CSMS won the first game 25-19 and an unbelievable 2nd game, 30-29. Bryndi Kissman had two kills from the back row and Maddie Jenkins also had two kills. Katarina Popovic had 9 good attacks.
The championship match was a rematch from Thursday, against AMCMS. CSMS defeated the Cats again 25-22, 20-25, and 26-24. In the third game, the Cubs were down 7-15, and battled back with Bryndi Kissmann serving 8 points in a row. She also had 23 digs. Lexi Bullard and Anna Solcher contributed 21 good passes and were consistent all day. Mary Pettibon had one kill. Andre Sanchez had a block and Sarah Hancock had 16 assists. The team fought hard and never gave up. Congratulations ladies on an awesome day!

Last night the 8th grade volleyball team faced off against the AMCMS Cats, in only the 2nd game of the season. Both the maroon and white teams battled it out in 3 close games, with CSMS earning 2 victories! Both teams remain undefeated.
The white team won a close first game, 25-20. With the Cubs ahead 18-17, Rachel Roberson served the next 4 points and the Cubs pulled ahead 22-18. Lauren Steines closed out the win, serving the final two points. The second game was also close. CSMS was down 17-14 and AMCMS went on to win 14-25. The third game proved to be just as exciting. The score was tied 19-19 when CSMS scored the final points and won 25-23. Hope Spacek led the way with 7 points.
The maroon team had to battle just as hard. CSMS came out ready to play, taking the first game 25-14. Sarah Hancock served 13 points in a row. The second game would go to AMCMS 17-25. The third game came down to the final points. With the Cubs up 19-17, Maddie Jenkins served 4 points to put CSMS in the lead 23-20. We finished off the sweep with a 25-23 win. Sarah Hancock served 26 points total and did not miss a serve. Bryndi Kissmann collected 33 digs in an outstanding effort back row. Congratulations on the wins.

Last night, the 8th grade Lady Cub volleyball team kicked off the season with a win against Jane Long.
The white team got off to a quick start winning 25-6, 25-4. In the first game, Hannah Spacek led the way, serving 10 straight points. The second game was a combined effort, with Susie Saca serving 9 points in a row and Brianna Soltis adding 7.
The maroon team also won in two games 25-4 and 25-13. This time it was Grace Jennings doing the scoring, serving 12 straight points to finish off the first game. Kassidy McCabe served 6 points in a row in the second game.
Next Thursday, the Cubs take on AMCMS at A&M Consolidated High School. Game time is 5:00 and 6:00. Come out and support your Lady Cubs. Good luck.
