A&M CONSOLIDATED FOOTBALL RECRUITING Minimize

Welcome to the A&M Consolidated High School football recruiting page.  This site is intended to help give our student-athletes a greater chance to continue playing football at the next level.

  • COLLEGE RECRUITERS:  We have included information about our players and their highlight videos at www.youtube.com/amctigers.  For more information about the players or for game footage on DVD, please email Coach Raffield or Coach Cope
  • PLAYERS & PARENTS:  The above tabs include the "Road Map to Recruiting" with links and information regarding eligiibility requirements, our "Core GPA Calculator" program, SAT and ACT testing dates, and other important facts about the recruiting process.  In addition, each Tiger varsity football player can create his own highlight video to put online.  It is the responsibility of the player to request his information and highlights to be added to the site.

Information from the National Coaches Association (NHSCA):

NCAA
It is the responsibility of every high school student athlete to know the NCAA rules. If a college coach is recruiting a high school student athlete and the coach breaks an NCAA recruiting rule, it can affect the college eligibility of the high school student athlete.

Division I and Division II schools can offer athletic scholarships.   Division III schools can offer other types of merit based and need based forms of financial aid.

Note that by NCAA rules, a student is only allowed 5 "paid visits" to colleges to maintain eligibility.  A paid visit can be as significant as airfare, hotel and meals for a 48 hour visit to campus, or as little as the coach buying a drink or snack for the student on a visit to campus.  Be cognizant that if the student receives anything that involves a form of payment from the college, this constitutes a "paid visit."

College Admissions

Colleges have different admissions standards.  Most colleges have 3 priority groups (minorities, athletes, and locals).  If you are in a priority group, you may not need quite the same credentials as others to be granted admissions to the college

Financial Aid

There are many types of financial aid.  Some colleges provide their own financial aid.  The state and federal governments also provide financial aid for college students.  Financial aid comes in the form of grants, loans, and jobs.

Grants
A grant is like a scholarship and does not need to be paid back.

Local grants
State grants
Federal grants

Loans
Loans can range from low interest loans to much higher interest loans.  There are also loans that have deferred payments as opposed to immediate payments.

Local bank loans
State student loans
Federal student loans
State parents loans
Federal parent loans

College Scholarships
College scholarships can range from a partial scholarship that covers a portion of college expenses to a full scholarship that covers all college expenses.  College expenses are defined as tuition, room, board, and books.

Athletic Scholarships
Presidential Scholarships
Talent Grants
Military Scholarships

College Jobs
College jobs can range from working at the school to working in the community.  You must qualify financially for a work study job by completing the federal financial aid form.  Non work study jobs do not require you to qualify financially.
